Lorraine Sievers (B Min., Dip Fam Th., Cert Sup., MNZAC)

Over the past 12 years Lorraine has practiced as a family therapist, parenting consultant, programme developer and group facilitator and has been involved in supervision practice for the last six years. She is responsible for supervising the team of therapists delivering the group therapy/psycho-education programmes she has developed.

Lorraine has also offered professional development training throughout Auckland, Northland and the Waikato for various child-care and family services, R.T.L.B. clusters, social workers, counsellors, and early childhood and primary teachers at the Kohia Education Centre, University of Auckland.

Lorraine specialises in the application of Attachment Theory to therapeutic work with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. Person Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems Theory are just some of the modalities she uses. Her particular interest in the transmission of attachment patterns from caregivers to children and how these patterns influence childrens' and adults' social, behavioural, emotional, academic, spiritual development for life, are behind the theoretical underpinnings of the work she does.

In the last 12 years Lorraine has successfully introduced attachment-based parenting and therapeutic programmes that bring correction and healing for survivors of abuse, neglect and trauma throughout Auckland, Northland and the Waikato. Working toward safer families, her parenting and psycho-educative programmes support adults and teenagers struggling with issues pertaining to conflict, anger, family violence, trauma, neglect and abuse, relationship and attachment break-down, and boundary issues. The eclectic approach she takes in counselling and group therapy enables people to complete important unfinished work through therapeutic models that support healing for past emotional hurt. The techniques she uses contribute to the restoration of family relationships.

As a member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors Lorraine is accountable to their Code of Ethics and she receives ongoing Professional Supervision.

Lorraine is the Programme Manager for The HEAL Trust.
